Houston Pt. 2

Sorry I have been very slow in updating recently. Gloria has been getting on my case. -___- I am going to slowly try to update the blog to my life. Here is the first part of Jason and my trip to his hometown :D

Happy to be traveling together :D

We totally knocked out on the plane. We had the best best seats courtesy of Jason's dad. We were in the first row of economy class seats, RIGHT next to the main door. So we had all this leg room PLUS we were the first ones off the plane. This = awesome.

I woke up just in time to see on our way down. So I got a chance to look out the window and see what Texas is all about.

Answer? FLATNESS

There are no mountains. Nada. Flat as a pancake.

When we got off the plane, we were picked up by Jason's mom, Irene. We had some car trouble (smoke was coming out of the hood. Yikes!), but everything was OK and we drove to eat dinner with Jason's brother, Jeffrey. We went to Lafayette where we got awesome cajun food. I had my first gumbo and a lot (A LOT) of crawfish.

YUM!

The next day, we woke up early in the morning because Jason had an appointment with his allergist. As some of you may know, Jason has crazy allergies and his nose is always stuffy and he gets sleepy after he eats. So we went to see what he was possibly allergic to. Answer?

EVERYTHING.

This only one part of his back. The rest of it was covered with red dots. Poor fiancĂ©. :( Then we went out to get lunch! Nom nom nom.

This is Jason's letter jacket from his high school, Dulles High School.

I couldn't believe he wore it everywhere. He wore it EVERYWHERE. Luckily, I convinced him to leave in Texas.

So for lunch we went to Don's Cafe where we had Vietnamese sandwiches. IT WAS SO GOOD. Better than Lee's for sure. The "special" was the best. Droooool

This is barbecue pork, Jason's favorite. Nom nom nom.

Then we (Jason, Me, Jason's friend Greg) went to Sonic's for HAPPY HOUR. This means half-price drinks. So we all got Route 44s. I got strawberry limeade!!! (I just looked up the calories: 481. Wow...)

Then later in the night, Jason and I went to the RODEO! We drove over to his Dad's place and we carpooled to Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans, where the RODEO was. Dude this thing was HUGE.

First we visited the livestock show. It was in the GIANT convention center. It was freaking huge. Rows and rows of animals from cows to pigs to sheep to chickens. It smelled. Tahahaha.

This is a Texan longhorn.

Newly hatched chicks

Then we were hungry so we decided to eat.

Texas barbecue!! nom nom nom.

Then Jason's brother Jeffrey also came and we decided to walk through the CARNIVAL. Yes, they also had a giant carnival. Where they had...???

ANSWER: Fried oreos!!
They were delicious. And 100000 calories

We also got churros! Yum. Us + Jason's dad
(yes we were fatties)

Then we went to the RODEO!! You can see the guy on the horse on the big screen.

Then finally, there was a concert! Who was this amazing performer??

ANSWER: KEITH URBAN

He was actually really really good live. He even went into the audience and his songs were really catchy.  Don't worry, I still don't really like country music. Jason is trying his hardest to change that.

That's all for now. I'll post more soon :)

Houston

Hey, y'all. Hannah here in Houston :) Jason and I arrived safely and now we're at his mom's place in a suburb called Missouri City, right outside Houston.

We're here visiting Jason's family + friends and to eat really really really good food. Today we had 5 lbs of crawfish. I am so so sooooooooo full.

Tomorrow we are going to get these amazing breakfast tacos and eventually go to a RODEO. I will try to take lots and lots of pictures. Whee :) Will give more updates later. Bye!

The more the merrier by Hannah

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I had a hectic weekend/week with a midterm paper (22 pages!) and a midterm (on the same day!), as well as a journalism project, a short story, a Web site proposal and a Web site due the day right before. (Do you want to see my Web projects? They're awesome. I made the graphic for the January calendar :D Scroll down for the links to projects!)

But now it's all over and Jason totally helped by supplying lots and lots of strawberry ice cream with crushed tagalongs (the Girl Scout Cookies) on top. Yummmmm

Not a lot of crazy stuff happening yet, but I freaked out a little yesterday because there's only FIVE MONTHS left until the wedding. AHHH. So things are really starting to get rolling.

I'm planning on visiting my friend Bryan's mom's flower shop Thursday to hopefully book some beautiful flowers. It's called Angie's Flowers and you should definitely visit her site! I'm thinking of getting white flowers with lots of green leaves, etc., so if you have any bouquet/centerpiece ideas, let me know :)

But the real reason I wanted to update was to point you guys to my friend Christine's wedding Web site. Christine goes to my church and she's an amaaazing singer (though she will be the last person to admit it). She's getting married the month before I am, and I'm super excited to have someone else be going through this with me. YAY :) BLOG!

Engagement Photoshoot by Hannah

When Jason and I decided to get married (so before we got engaged), we started prepping for the Big Day. One of my big concerns was getting a good but affordable photographer. Lucky for me, my dad knew Kevin Lee of Kevin Lee Studio from our church. He had given Kevin my phone number, but I thought nothing would come out of it.

But the next day, Kevin called me and told me his partner, Ted, needed a models to shoot on Thursday because he would be going out and scouting locations. I thought, great! An opportunity to take some photos with a professional. My dad told me not to worry about price and just go, so Jason and I went off.

Three costume changes, five hours, and lots of hours of smiling later, we were done. We drove all around Downtown L.A., my feet were killing me, and everyone was tired, but we all felt pretty good. Ted was amazing, always keeping us laughing and comfortable. This week, we got our photos back and booked Ted for our wedding!

And now for the good part: the photos :)

Sneak Peek by Hannah

We got our engagement photos this morning. They look GORGEOUS. I don't have time to upload them and having 100000 notifications on Facebook will not be good for my productivity. So look for them later this week :)

But to whet your appetites, here's one of my favs :D
