Only Brides Can Wear White

Two weeks ago or so, some of my bridesmaids and I went for another one of my wedding dress fittings.

Liz, Christie, and Gloria, who is my maid of honor.

I'm getting my dress at Shinbu, which makes custom wedding dresses. They're so friendly and very accomodating. :D

This is their store. You can see Gloria browsing through wedding dresses.

She really really wants one. Hahahah. There are NO PICTURES of my wedding dress. We took some during my fitting, but I don't want people to see it yet. You'll just have to wait until August 14! But here is a group pictures of us, with Gloria wearing the 5-inch heels I'll be wearing on the wedding day.

The end for now :)

Save me, San Francisco

Last weekend, Jason and I went up to San Francisco to visit my dad's side of the family. We went up Friday morning and came down Saturday night. It was pretty tiring but super fun. Here's a look :)

This was after our late lunch stop @ Pea Soup Andersen's. Delicious pea soup, with everything overpriced.

Random facts:
- The soundtrack for our trip were "Hey, Soul Sister" and "Save Me, San Francisco" by Train. Stuck in my head the entire time.
- Jason drives really really slow. Hahahaha. But he helped my daddy drive a lot :)
- I got addicted to Peggle, an iPhone game

We arrived in San Francisco late Friday afternoon. We got free gifts: a rug for our new place and a set of speakers, and then met up with my family. We had really really good Korean BBQ. Then we hung out my uncle's house (I played Peggle, Jason finished up a sermon), and then we all knocked out.

We left the next morning. We had delicious bagels (lox + cream cheese + onions), and then visited my grandparent's graveyard where we paid our respects. Then we started down to Monterey and the PCH. A long, LONG drive, but very beautiful. Here come the pictures!

On the 17-mile drive :) Mommy and daddy are cute.

My fiance is silly. He thinks he is a sailor.

The lone cypress. The most photographed tree in the world.

Eating by the world famous Pebble Beach golf course. The 2010 U.S. Open will be played here.

Jason is now part of the family!!!!

At Big Sur.
You can see the waterfall that goes into the ocean!

Group picture :D

It was super fun! Yay for family bonding time. I almost cried with joy when my dad said, while we were driving down, "This is the happiest weekend of my life."

Unfailing love is faithfulness not a feeling

Proverbs 20:6 - Many a man claims to have unfailing love,
but a faithful man who can find?

What a profound statement concerning so many married people in today's world. How many married men and women claim to love each other? In fact, how many claim vows of unfailing love such as "until death do we part?"

Yet how difficult will it be at the end of days to find the faithful among those who made the claim? This is something deep and hard to consider as I am about to get married. My marriage is not only a wonderful union but a testing ground for Hannah's and my own faithfulness.

Our upcoming "I do's" I think are so often misspoken words. I would rather instead of the dialog:

"Do you take this person as your husband/wife? I do"

it ought to be:

"Will you take this person as your husband/wife (every day, no matter what)? I will"

Just a thought. Faithfulness is proven, not stated.

I'll try to post some of the things I'm learning about marriage from seminary. It's good stuff.

Poppy Viewing (March 28, 2010)

My favorite flower in the world is the California Poppy. It's so bright and happy. I'm sure you've noticed them around as they've been blooming everywhere. A few Sundays ago, Jason and I decided to go visit the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. With all the rain we've been getting this year, I knew there would be wonderful carpets of orange.

My mom also loves wildflowers, so we invited her (dad had a meeting) and drove off after church.

It took about an hour to get there. We took the 210 to the 5 to the 14 toward Lancaster. We got off Avenue I and after a few miles we passed by a (closed?) state prison!

A few miles later, we started seeing patches of bright orange on the sides of the road. They were gorgeous. We finally arrived at the park to this:

This is my mommy :)
We decided to hike to the top of a hill to get a better view.

Jason's stroll :)
Here are some cool close-ups Jason took of the flowers we saw!
We finally made it to the top and had a photo shoot. Taha

Just kidding. But we did take photos :)

Then we left the reserve and went into some random field to take pictures with the poppies :)

The end :)

To infinity and Bed Bath & Beyond!

Another thing off the list! Yesterday, Jason and I went impromptu gift registry registering at Bed Bath & Beyond in Hollywood (the one on Vine). We thought they'd just give us a gun and make us run around, but the sales guy Alex told us he could take us around the store and make suggestions. We agreed, and it was two hours of scanning items.

Alex was awesome. He kept reminding us that we could return things if we really didn't like the color and kept us on track. Alex said he's seen couples walk out because they got mad while scanning. Yikes!

So we got things from cutting boards to pillows to cookware to coffee makers. We tried to get a variety of price ranges too, but man, a lot of stuff is super expensive. But if you really want to know, Jason really wants the coffee maker. I want the owl doormat! And the bath robes!

BUT the best part was logging on a few minutes ago to our gift registry. It's really easy.  You go to www.bedbathandbeyond.com and you click on the tab that says Bridal/Gift Registry. I typed in my name, and laughed.

There are THREE Hannah Kim and Jason ____ couples listed. Hahahahahah. So please. If you go to the site to buy us a registry gift, please make sure its Hannah Kim and Jason CHAO. Or look it up using Jason' name. Then we are the only Jason&Hannah couple. :)

The end!!!

Houston pt. 4

Woo! I'm on a roll. Here's the LAST part of Jason and my trip to the Country of Texas (yes, it's a country).

So for brunch on Friday, we went to this DELICIOUS chicken and waffles place called the Breakfast Klub, where they spell everything with a K. Better then Roscoe's. For sure.

We waited outside for a LONG TIME. But eventually we got in and our food came out really fast.

I had the fried chicken and waffles. SO GOOD.

Jason had the fried catfish and grits. Mmmm. Flaky fish. Btw, Houston has the best fire hydrants. They're like smurfs!!!

Rockets smurf!

We did some work that day, and just lounged around. We ate dinner (Texan steak) and eventually had a party where a lot of Jason's friends came over. We played Monopoly and Settlers and I won a game! Woo hoo!

Our last day was Saturday. It was rainy and cold so I stole Jason's jacket after a Soliz run. Tahahaha. And we went to our last Sonics.

The ring!

Houston pt. 3

HELLO! Hannah again. So here's the next part of Jason and my trip to Houston. Wednesday morning, Jason and I ate at Soliz Casa De Las Tacos. (We actually picked up Soliz on Tuesday morning as well after his allergy appointment, but I didn't take pictures). This time, we sat and ate inside. And yes, it is so delicious.

Soliz is only open until 2 p.m., but it's always always bustling. I had a "Nash w/ guac" which has egg, chorizo, bacon, potato, and this awesome AWESOME green sauce. Yummm. And really cheap too.

Then we went around Jason's old familiar haunts w/ Jason and his mommy.

Here is Jason in front of his high school. Again, with the letter jacket. We also visited this GIGANTIC Hindu temple that is near Jason's house.

Jason's mom said they brought in masons from India to build this place. Look at all the intricate details.

We also visited the mall (no pictures) and the city center. We are matching because it's St. Patrick's Day.

For dinner (I think Soliz was a "brunch" thing),  Jason and I met up with Jason's dad for some Taiwanese food.

Sticky rice. SO DELICIOUS. Yummmmm

Some kind of intestine/blood soup. Jason tried to trick me saying the blood cubes were "red tofu."

Jason's dad took us to downtown Houston. It's really beautiful and clean. And see that silver building in the middle right? That's the ORIGINAL Enron building. Now it's owned by Chevron. This the view from this park with a river that goes straight into the city. It's so prettyyyyyyyyy

US :D We are still matching. Tahaha

Then we went to a ROCKETS game: Jason's dad, Jason, Jason's friend Robert and girlfriend Alice, Jeffrey and his girlfriend Patricia, and me. It was super fun and the Rockets won. Yay!

Us at the game. We bought the hat and the jersey. Woo :D

This is Jason for most of the trip. I think this was some random nap when he wouldn't get up. Tahaha.

Anywho, Thursday afternoon we wandered around different places. He drove me around the suburbs and it was very beautiful and green and yay!!!

This is Jason's lake. Seriously. His little suburbian complex (subdivision) has a LAKE. With DUCKS and ...

ALLIGATORS!!!!!

The end... for now :)
